This full-day interactive workshop focuses on preparing for the Intake or First Session, as well as succeeding sessions, by grounding therapists in the fundamentals of therapeutic dialogue. This helps them to prepare before the session by attuning to client expectations and preferences. It emphasizes starting each session with confidence and grounded presence to better maintain connection.
Participants will learn to pose thoughtful, challenging questions that spark insight, repair moments of disconnection with intentional words, and close sessions with purpose and clarity. Participants will learn these not just through lectures but through practical exercises such as script writing, creating nuanced statements, using silence effectively, and practicing dialogue.
By the end of the workshop, each participant will have created semi-structured session checklists and customizable scripts to support consistent and meaningful client engagement.
This workshop is open to aspiring counselors and psychotherapists, novice practitioners just beginning their journey, and experienced professionals looking to deepen and refine their session work.
