TF-CBT is an evidence-based treatment model and systematic approach to dealing with children's and adolescents' psychological trauma. The World Health Organization has recommended and endorsed this intervention in the Guidelines for the Management of Conditions Specifically Related to Stress. The interactive lecture will include information on identifying appropriate candidates for TF-CBT, a description of core components, and illustrations of its use through a case presentation and video demonstrations.

The workshop aims to discuss the evolutionary function of anxiety and its biological roots to allow for a deeper understanding of how anxiety and fear function in different populations. Moreover, the workshop aims to help professionals understand the different “faces” of anxiety—how adults and children manifest anxiety differently, and how to differentiate anxiety from other difficult experiences.

This interactive workshop aims to provide an experiential view of what it might be like to invite the body to therapy to manage anxiety. An exploration of the nervous system and the stress response will establish a framework of understanding on how physiological symptoms can exacerbate the experience of anxiety and how utilizing somatic interventions and strategies can help alleviate distress. The participants will have the opportunity to explore several somatic practices for regulating the nervous system, responding to bodily sensations, and tapping into the relationship of mind and body.
